Bone and Joint Surgery
Established in 1997, the Department of Bone and Joint Surgery of Binzhou Medical University Hospital (BMUH) has taken the leading position in the Yellow River Delta area. It offers twenty-four hours, seven days coverage of accident and emergency services. It has more than 24,000 outpatient visits, 1,300 inpatient admissions and over 1,400 operations annually. It is currently staffed with 14 doctors and 18 nurses, among whom there is 1 professor and 2 associate professors.
Our primary clinical services cover diagnosis and treatment for senile osteoarthropathy and sports injury. We have taken the leading role in the Yellow River Delta in hip and knee replacement and arthroscopy surgeries in shoulder, elbow and ankle. The total hip and knee replacement surgeries completed has reached more than 1,500, all with good results. Joint surgery treatment types include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic arthritis, osteonecrosis, hip dysplasia, and a variety of joint damage or lesions. Arthroscopic surgery is characterized by the use of minimally invasive surgical technique in the treatment of diseases of joints. Joint arthroscopic surgery can be performed in shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle and other joints.
The Department of Bone and Joint Surgery has conducted fundamental and support studies with the help of our Clinical Trials Center. Our department achieved 2 projects from the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province. Our staff has published over 20 academic papers, won 5 scientific awards and acquired 4 patents.
Numerous fellows and interns undertake training here every year. In addition, our department encourages and supports doctors to go abroad for further study and research. We often participate in international cooperation researches and clinical trials and are always looking for further opportunities to take advance research in the areas of arthroscopy and arthroplasty.
