The Department of Cardiovascular MedicineCMat Binzhou Medical University Hospital (BMUH) was established in 1977. It is a key discipline of Shandong province, a national clinical medicine trial base and a base for master’s degree candidate training. Owing to the co-efforts of generation by generation over almost four decades, the department now consists of two wards (one ward for cardiovascular regular diseases and one CCU), one electrocardiogram room, one echocardiography and catheter room and a cardiovascular intervention lab. It is currently staffed with 22 doctors and 31 nurses, among whom there are 3 professors, 6 associate professors. 5 members of its staff have achieved doctoral degrees, 17 have achieved master’s degrees, and 3 doctors have received overseas training.
CM’s academic achievements have been extensively acknowledged. Professor ZhANG Wenbo is one of the most famous electrocardiographists in China. He has contributed a great deal to the development of electrocardiology and therefore was granted the lifetime achievement reward by the Chinese Medical Association in 2005.
We can perform electrophysiology, Holter, ambulatory blood pressure, cardiac function, ECG and echocardiography. We have inherited the tradition of being excellent and professional. We have mastered some of the latest techniques, such as radiofrequency ablation for arrhythmias, interventional treatment of complex congenital heart disease, CRT and ICD pacemaker, transesophageal echocardiography, etc. We have established a “Green Passage” for patients who may need emergency PCI with acute myocardial infarction. All of our patients can get timely diagnosis and proper treatment, which earns our department a good reputation in the Yellow River Delta.
Our department owns C-arm DSA system (SIEMENS), multifunction central ECG monitoring system (Philips), vivid7 cardiac color doppler ultrasound, IABP, defibrillator and multiple lead electric physiological instrument, etc. The cardiovascular intervention lab could perform coronary angiography, PTCA, coronary stenting, balloon angioplasty heart valves, intracoronary ultrasound, intracoronary pressure measurement, radiofrequency ablation (AVRT, AVNRT, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, atrial tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia, etc. Intervention lab also could perform operations for congenital heart disease, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus and complex congenital heart disease patients. More than 2,500 interventions are completed in total every year.
We have always attached great importance to teaching and research. Undergraduates, postgraduates and visiting doctors are trained at CM. Our academic team now focuses on the research of atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, hypertension, atrial fibrillation and diabetic cardiomyopathy.
