At the invitation of Waitemata District Health Board and Vaiola Hospital in Tonga, Mr. Jinggang Zhao, Party Secretary of BMUH, led a delegation to New Zealand and Tonga from September 14th to 21st, 2019.
In New Zealand, as the first Chinese hospital visited Dunedin Southern District Health Board, the delegation was received a warm welcome. They met with Mr. Kathy Grant, Commissioner of Dunedin Southern District Health Board, and visited the Dental School of University of Otago and Dunedin Hospital. As one of the top ten ranked dentistry in the world, University of Otago enjoys a high international reputation. During the communication with Prof. Karl Lyons, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, they reached a preliminary agreement on personnel training and academic exchanges. In Auckland, the delegation communicated with counterparts of Waitemata District Health Board to share hospital information construction experience and discuss with the next step cooperation. They also visited North Shore Hospital.
In Tonga, Mr. Jinggang Zhao signed an agreement with the CEO of Tonga Ministry of Health, which on remote consultation, technical support, personnel exchange and other aspects of cooperation. After the signing ceremony, accompanied by Mr. Lisiate K'Ulufonua, Medical Superintendent of Vaiola Hospital, the delegation visited Vaiola Hospital and had in-depth exchanges.
This visit is of positive significance to broaden BMUH's foreign exchange channels, improve the level of foreign exchange, implement the national "One Belt And One Road" initiative and participate in global health governance.
