Established in 1978, the Department of Neurosurgery at Binzhou Medical University Hospital (BMUH) has now consisted of six subspecialties: neurosurgical intensive care, cerebral vascular unit, craniocerebral trauma, intracranial tumor, spinal cord department of neurosurgery and function department of neurosurgery. It has become the neurosurgical center of the Yellow River Delta. It has 121 hospital beds, which are divided into 113 ordinary beds and 8 intensive care beds. It is currently staffed with 36 doctors and 80 nurses, among whom there are 2 professors and 7 associate professors. 

 

Currently neurosurgery has launched many kinds of operations, including intracranial, spinal and cerebral vascular interventional procedure. We have rich experience in stubborn diseases, like brain stem tumor, intracranial aneurysm, intramedullary spinal cord tumors, complex skull base tumor, giant pituitary tumor, craniopharyngioma, giant intracranial cerebral vascular malformation, trigeminal neuralgia, facial spasm and Parkinson´syndrome. Ventriculoscope has been widely used in the treatment of intraventricular tumor, hydrocephalus and intracerebral hematoma, which avoids suffering of craniotomy. In the skull base surgery, we combine microscope and ventriculoscope in order to observe the relation between lesion and surrounding tissue and resect pathology, meanwhile diminishing injury. We can implement carotid artery stenting, carotid endarterectomy, internal and external vascular anastomosis to treat ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Intervention has been widely used in the treatment of intracranial aneurysm. Now three-dimensional printing technology has been effectively applied to clinical surgery at our department.

 

We have undertaken one national natural fund project and four provincial-level research projects, published more than 100 papers and acquired four patents.
