Owing to the co-efforts of generation by generation, our department now is equipped with 19 advanced laminar flow operating rooms and 10 PACU (postanesthesia care unit) beds and carries out about 25,000 anesthesia cases annually, including cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, joint replacement and many other types of difficult cases. It is currently staffed with 42 doctors and 114 nurses, among whom there are 2 professors, 7 associate professors, 1 doctorate holder, 39 master’s degree holders and 2 doctors have received overseas training. 

 

We offer comfort medical treatment for each patient. Pain free abortion, delivery, ova harvest and endoscopy are routinely carried out. We have research interests in general anesthesia mechanism and perioperative organ protection.

We are enthusiastic about clinical teaching. We have inherited the tradition of providing excellent education for all trainees and about 100 students are trained every year at our department. The master’s degree training program was established in 2011 and 6 master’s degree students have graduated from our department. 

We are very proud of the achievements in dealing with postoperative pain. About 18,000 patient controlled analgesia (PCA) cases are carried out annually, of which 99% of the cases visual analogue pain scale (VAS) score are less than 4.
