After a long-term construction and development, the Department of Radiology has now grown into a department with advanced equipment, a talented team, and complete expertise. It is a key discipline of Shandong province, possesses a station for “Taishan scholar” of molecular imaging, a key laboratory of molecular imaging of Shandong province, a key specialty of Shandong province. It is currently staffed with 81 people, including 38 doctors, 39 technicians and 4 nurses, among whom there are 5 professors and 11 associate professors. 3 members of its staff have achieved doctoral degrees, 33 have achieved master’s degrees, and 3 doctors have received overseas training.
The major equipment in the department includes 1 3.0T MRI, 1 1.5T MRI, 1 128 slice dual source CT, 2 64 slice CT, 1 2 slice CT, 3 DR, 1 digital gastrointestinal machine, 1 cone beam CT, 1 digital breast X-ray machine. Many new techniques of CT and MRI are actively carried out and the diagnosis and treatment level is continuously improving. The use of the dual source CT for CT angiography (CTA) in various parts of the whole body and low dose scan has received favorable comment from both patients and doctors. The CT and MRI perfusion imaging of the whole brain, liver, pancreas, and other organs are actively carried out. Some new MR techniques such as MRS, DWI, DTI, DKI, IVIM, etc. have also been used to provide valuable information for the diagnosis of some difficult diseases.
Our academic achievements have been extensively acknowledged both at home and abroad. The academic leader of the department serves as a vice chairman of the abdomen professional committee of medical imaging research of Shandong province, a youth committee member of the radiology professional committee of Shandong medical association, a committee member of the radiology professional committee of the integrated Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine of Shandong province, a committee member of the quality control center of Shandong Medical Association, a standing committee member of the Radiology Professional Committee of Shandong Cancer Society, a committee member of the Journal of Binzhou Medical University, a committee member of the Journal of Practical Radiology, a committee member of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
The Department has further strengthened its competitiveness through the establishment of subspecialties. So far, it has established four academic groups: Abdominal and Pelvic Imaging Diagnosis Group, Chest and Breast Imaging Diagnosis Group, Skeletal Muscle Imaging Diagnosis Group, Central and Head and Neck Imaging Diagnosis Group. Each professional group has successfully mastered the professional knowledge, and laid on the application of new technology in clinical work. Its annual patient visits have reached more than two hundred and sixteen thousand.
We have always attached great importance to scientific research. Our research focus lies in the functional MRI in the tumors of head, abdomen, and pelvic cavity. We have made some gratifying achievements in such aspects as studies on functional MRI in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
