Recently, the Department of Orthopedic Trauma has successfully completed a talus-fracture minimal invasive surgery (MIS) with 3D print navigation template.

Before the operation, we designed precise screw plate with 3D print for patients, after resetting talus fracture effectively with traction during the surgery, paste extracorporal plate in the operation area, then drove the hollow screw precisely with navigation, making  sure the fixation is fine., the incisions are 2 minimal invasive incisions about 1cm.The whole surgery took about 10 minutes. The patient recovered well after surgery.

The main symptoms of talus fracture are local swelling, pain, subcutaneous ecchymosis, unable to walk or stand. The occurrence of talus fracture is rare. The main causes are the pressure of direct violence or indirect pressure of falling from a height. The latter are often with calcaneus fracture. The recovery from talus fracture is often not ideal and nonunion and ischemic necroses are often associated with it. So the earlier the treatment is, the better the recovery is. The treatment of talus fracture in the past used to be open reduction and internal fixation, which makes the incision bigger, takes long time, and easy to result in the destruction of blood supply which leads to the nonunion and  necrosis of talus. In talus-fracture MIS with 3D print navigation template, the location is precise, incisions are smaller, operation time is shorter, secondary injury of talus fracture are reduced, the blood supply is protected, and the chances of the talus recovery is improved. Therefore, it is of great clinical significance and worth generalizing.
