The Department of Spinal Surgery developed from the general surgery department. Based on the great achievement in the field of spinal specialist, spinal surgery became the orthopaedic center for infantile paralysis in Shandong province in 1983. Under the leadership of Professor SUN Zhaozhong, the Department of Spinal Surgery was established in 2005. Focusing on clinical diagnosis, treatment and related research of spinal diseases, our aim is to offer patients professional treatment and care. For years, we offer high quality medical care, and the most professional treatments available. 

 

In the past ten years, we have taken the lead in some minimally invasive surgeries, such as Lumbar intervertebral disc discectomy under full-endoscopic. We are devoted to the clinical researches of the non-fusion spinal surgery for the deficits of fusion surgeries.

 

Our department is currently staffed with 15 doctors and 17 nurses, among whom there are 2 professors and 3 associate professors. 2 members of them have achieved doctoral degrees, 6 have got master's degrees and 3 doctors have attended overseas training. 

 

With an annual outpatient visit volume of over 25,000, the Department of Spinal Surgery has taken the leading place in Shandong province in carrying out systematic education and management of full-endoscopic surgery. 

 

We have focused on the research of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD), Lumbar anatomy and minimally invasive treatment of osteoporosis. Some gratifying achievements have been made a in the study of full-endoscopic.
