The Department of Pediatric Hematology and Neurology was founded in April 2009. Now there are more than 30 clinicians, among whom are 12 physicians and 19 nurses. We have 2 chief physicians, 2 associate chief physicians, and 4 attending doctors. The unique feature of our department lies in curing children's blood system disease and nervous system disease, such as leukemia, pediatric aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, purulent meningitis, epilepsy and so on. The treatment for aplastic anemia with immunosuppressive therapy and for immune thrombocytopenic purpura by means of individual dose intravenous immunoglobulin has achieved good results. Our department is the first designated organization to provide treatment to children with leukemia in rural areas in Shandong. In addition, we are doing very well in the pediatric respiratory system, nervous system, digestive system and other diseases, especially  pneumonia, asthma, pediatric epilepsy, intracranial infection, etc.

 

The venous indwelling technique, PICC, and health education have obtained great achievement, which greatly relieves the children's illness and shortens the time of hospitalization. At present, our department has the most advanced laminar clean beds, ECG monitors, micro-infusion pumps and other high-tech medical instruments and equipment.

 

In order to improve the proficiency, we have actively participated in domestic and international academic exchanges. Our medical staff are encouraged to take part in training classes and academic exchanges in hospitals famous at home and abroad.  At the same time, we are actively developing new techniques and carrying out scientific research work. Currently, 5 scientific research projects have been completed; more than 40 papers have been published in academic journals.
